Local celebrity and action star Robin Padilla, as we know it, is not only a good actor but also a good citizen. Despite his title as the Bad Boy of the local showbiz scene, all of his supporters, friends, and loved ones know that he is a very proud Muslim ever since he converted to Islam. If you take a look at past reports about the action star, you’ll see how active he is regarding peace in Mindanao.

Now, reports claimed that he recently turned over a P5 million donation to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the benefit of the Marawi children.

In a report published by GMA News, the actor gave the donation on Wednesday. This was witnessed by President Rodrigo Duterte himself. The Malacañang Palace released official photos of the said event on Twitter. According to the post, the donation was received by DSWD Undersecretary Emmanuel Leyco.

“The P5-million donation is intended for the immediate psychosocial intervention for the children affected by the armed conflict in Marawi City,” stated in the caption.

The report added that Padilla was joined by other officials such as Fisheries Development Authority General Manager Glen A. Pangapalan, Frabelle Foods Corp. President Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., and his brother Rommel C. Padilla.

Also present during the turnover were Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez, DSWD Asst. Sec. Rodolfo Santos, and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief-of-Staff Gen. Eduardo Año.

Meanwhile, netizens speculate that the action star donated the huge sum of money in order to obtain a position in the Duterte administration. Padilla has been known as a loyal supporter of Pres. Duterte ever since he started his campaign last year.

Despite these allegations, supporters and loyal fans of Padilla defended him from social media bashers.
