CAUGHT ON CCTV: Speeding Motorcycle Hits an 11-Year-Old Student in Sta. Ana, Manila in Broad Daylight!
Motorcycles are one of the fastest and dangerous types of vehicles to ply the road, especially highways and avenues. They may side-sweep people and cars because of their ability to snake through the road in an oftentimes zigzag manner. There are cases wherein their recklessness can cost the lives of others, too.
In Sta. Ana, Manila, an 11-year-oldstudent was recklessly hit by a passing motorcycle in Pedro Gil. ABS-CBN News reported that the accident occurred on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. A CCTV footage caught two firetrucks in the first few seconds of the scene. After they passed by the bustling two-lane drive, a male student identified as Justin Tuason attempted to cross the road.
However, before his feet even trudged the lane, a speeding motorcycle passed by and hit him recklessly. The boy was thrown on the side of the road as a result. People from the surrounding area approached him after the vehicle passed. The source noted that even a police escort went to his aid. It was alleged he was the one who hit the boy.
The student was brought to the hospital, accompanied by the police escort. The barangay officials in that area were reportedly relieved that the police escort helped the student who got involved in the accident. However, when they reached the medical facility, the police escort denied that he was the one who hit the student.
He left the hospital after and did not appear any longer. Based on the investigations of the barangay officials, the police escort claimed that it was the passing fire truck who hit the student. However, the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) stated that the police escort did not give away his identity.
The mother of the student pleaded to the public that the one responsible should come forward and surrender himself to the authorities. The student’s parents also asked the authorities to visually enhance the certain CCTV footage that showed her son being implicated. When they watched it again, it was confirmed that it was the motorcycle (that was driven by police escort) who hit the student.
Meanwhile, the student is undergoing medication and treatment after the accident occurred. Due to the implication, he cannot speak properly because several of his teeth were knocked off from the sudden impact of the motorcycle on his body. His lips were also heavily swollen by the accident. In addition, he has difficulty standing as well because of the stitches that were done on his thigh.
As of now, the MTPB are still investigating the matter, particularly the identity of the motorcycle rider who hit the student. When the video report about it was uploaded on social media, lots of netizens commented on it.
